Jaskier pouts very dramatically. "My lady is a fucking tease."
After kissing her nose, he finishes his sundae too and puts the things back on the fridge before following her. "The day I say no to that question, you'll know I'm dead."
Pillows are piled against the headboard so they can comfortable sit against it. Their size difference comes in handy once more, allowing them to stay close and still balance their bowls. Jaskier ocassionally dips his spoon in her bowl just to feed her. It's another form of affection in his eyes.
"Of course, you remember after we get comfortable," he teases.
Jaskier still thinks that Midge doesn't owe them an explanation as long as the kids are with Joel. But he won't be against a little heads-up call. Not a bad thing to prevent any worries.
He drops the spoon in the bowl to rub her back. "What are you going to tell them?"
She doesn’t want to worry her parents. Midge tries to let them know when her gigs are so they know when she’ll be out late. Tonight isn’t one of them. The last thing she needs is them calling the cops to try to come find her.
She takes a deep breath. “That I’m staying with you. And that you’re officially my boyfriend now.”
"So you're telling them that you'll be spending the night fucking, understood."
Just a little more teasing, don't mind him. Jaskier doesn't want her to worry about this too much, although he can't deny that her parents being a touchy subject may be a thing forever.
He kisses the top of her head. "You honor me. Are you nervious?"
Midge huffs a laugh at that, mostly because it’s true. That’s more or less what she’s telling them. The truth. But, they’re going to have to find out sooner or later. She’s a grown woman. She’s not going to sneak around with her boyfriend like a teenager.
“A little.” Midge looks up at him, her blue eyes wide. “I don’t want to hide you though. We’re not going to hide at the wedding, so they might as well know now. Besides, I’m a divorcee, not some blushing virgin.”
Another kiss, this time for her forehead. Her hand never stops rubbing her back - he wants her to relax and enjoy herself, not to worry about these things. But he can't blame her.
"Whatever you choose to do, you have my support. You know I don't expect any formalities - you're free to do as you please. We'll make a grand entrance at the wedding anyway." Wink~
“Oh is that why you always say dirty things to me?” she asks.
He’s so comforting, another reason why she loves him. Midge curls up against him, her head on his chest.
“We definitely will.” She smiles. “I keep thinking back to that night at the art jam. Even though we fought, it was such a good night before that. Everyone knew who I was. Had you been talking about me?”
It seems the mood has improved and she's more relaxed, so Jaskier takes back the spoon and alternates between feeding her and himself. His other hand stays on her back, of course, keeping her close.
"I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it before... the thing. We'll go back sometime. Or did you like it because everyone knew your name?" He chuckles. "Of course I talked about you. You may not have been my girlfriend, but you still were a close friend."
Jaskier always makes her feel better. Ice cream helps too.
“No, I liked seeing what the other artists were working on. Next time I hope I’ll get to collaborate with them a bit more.” It was a lot of fun until the thing with Lenny and then her fight with Jaskier.
She looks up at him. “I haven’t spoken about you to many people, though you’ve met Joel and my family. And Susie. I don’t have to keep how much I love you a secret anymore.”
Jaskier's smile widens, clearly soft and content. Not only because it's a very sweet and cozy moment, but also because he loves hearing Midge embracing the arts like this.
"I hope so too. I can wait to see what you can do - I bet you can shine even brighter with the right bohemian guiding you."
Chuckling, he kisses the top of her head. "The fact that a few people in your life even had a vague idea of my existence at all already puts you ahead of at least half of my torrid affairs." He's always been a secret for married women and closeted men, so he's used to it. But he must admit - this feels much nicer. "I'm looking forward to your showing me off. I bet you're dying to make all your friends jealous."
"I'm the best bohemian," he replies with a cheeky grin, but the soft expression returns for the next question. "Am I the right one, Midge?" That's for her to decide.
Jaskier laughs at her description of him and happily kisses her back as he wonders how explicit she'll be. The mention of Geralt takes him by surprise, and he blinks a few times before he catches on.
"You mean that he knew that I love you? Yes, of course. The whole household knew; it wasn't a secret." A shrug. "It wouldn't have been a big deal if they didn't like giving me so much crap for it."
“You’re very bohemian,” she agrees. “And yes, I think you’re the right one.”
Right for her, for as long as he’ll have her.
“Did they?” Midge is amused to hear that. “Why did they tease you so much?”
Probably because he’s the sort who becomes infatuated with people, but doesn’t necessarily fall in love with them. Plus, Midge got him to commit to her. That’s a huge feat.
The sentiment is extremely sweet and he does appreciate it, so he kisses her again as thanks while his mind thinks only time will tell.
"Because they like making my life a living hell," he replies, and leaves it there. He's pretty sure that the teasing had his feelings for Geralt as a mocking background, and he doesn't want to go down that road. "Did Susie ever say anything?"
That’s a relatively short answer and abrupt change of topic for him, though Midge doesn’t call it out.
“She’s mentioned it, asked without seeming like she’s interested if we were still fucking.” Midge eats an ice cream covered strawberry. “She thinks you’re going to distract me too much.”

Jaskier and Midge get comfortable on the bed, with her leaning against his side. She gladly eats his offered spoonfuls of ice cream.
“I guess I have to call my mother soon,” she says with a sigh.

It’s hard to completely embrace that lifestyle, but only time will tell how she feels about it the longer she works as a performer.
“Oh yes. I can’t wait to show off the handsome, vibrant man that I managed to bag.” And he’s a viscount. Midge gives his mouth a soft kiss.
“Geralt knew it was different with me, didn’t he?”
