"Let's see what the princess has to say about it," he replies as he watches Ciri run toward them in the distance.
He decides to stop walking so they can protect the pie a little more and wait for her under a huge tree. That's when Jaskier notices a bunch of people with binoculars - bird watchers, but he doesn't know that. He looks up and gets very confused when he doesn't notice anything out of the ordinary in the sky.
Midge looks towards the group of people that Jaskier is talking about. “Birds, probably,” she replies. “People enjoy watching them, but it’s kind of an invasion of privacy, isn’t it?”
She wouldn’t want someone staring at her through binoculars.
"The privacy of the birds?" Jaskier asks with amusement.
At that moment, Ciri catches up to them and follows their eyes, causing her to ask the same question as Jaskier. He tells her what Midge taught him.
"They just sit around and watch birds?" she asks, sounding quite baffled. She turns to Midge. "Please tell me there's something more fun to do around here."
Laughing pretty hard. "While I do like an audience, I wouldn't want it literally all day long."
Ciri smiles brightly. "Yes! Rowing was easy and Mary was impressed. We exchanged numbers." She sounds quite proud of herself. "I want to stay here a little longer," she admits. It's nice not to have her parents breathing down her neck. "What are the prettiest spots to sunbathe?" she asks as she takes the pie from Midge, finally remembering it's her responsibility.
“That’s great,” Midge tells her, glad to hear that she might have made a friend. Maybe the park isn’t so boring after all.
“There’s a stretch of grass that’s well kept where people have picnics or lie out. Up on the hill you can watch the people out on the street.” Something to look at, at least.
They walk up the hill and get comfortable on the grass. It's indeed a great spot to lie down and just watch the people pass. The park itself is beautiful, so it makes for a great view as well. Ciri closes her eyes and lets the sunlight warm her body while Jaskier cuddles Midge, an arm firm around her. Music can be heard on some radios. It's peaceful. It's nice.
"We should've made a picnic here," Ciri says after a few minutes.
"A good plan for another day," Jaskier replies before turning to Midge. "Although I could feed you pie with my fingers."
Midge pulls a pair of sunglasses out of her purse and reminds herself not to stay here for too long. She doesn’t have a hat, and doesn’t want to get sunburnt.
“A picnic is a great idea,” she says, “as is you feeding me pie.”
Midge turns to Ciri. “One day you’ll love someone so much that eating pie out of their hands won’t seem gross.”
After settling back down against Jaskier’s shoulder, she points to a white building all the way at the end of the block.
"Indeed. It's magical, not gross." He grins. "It doesn't have to be their hands either..." Ciri pokes him in the ribs to stop him from saying dirty, and Jaskier makes a very dramatic ouch noise but he also laughs.
At the mention of the apartment building, Ciri sits up to take a better look. "Woah... you have such a great view! Is it very noisy here? Are there tons of lights at night? I don't think Geralt would like it..."
“Aren’t you glad that your uncle found love?” Midge teases. “Now you get to hear all about it in graphic detail.” Midge certainly wouldn’t want to think of any of her family members eating food off another person’s body.
“It can be very noisy and bright, but I’ve lived there all my life. I’m used to it. Geralt would probably hate it though. I’m surprised he’s okay living in the city at all.” He would probably enjoy a cabin in the woods where nobody would ever bother him.
Ciri wrinkles her nose. "He says too much when he's single, too."
Jaskier pokes her ribs in return, making her squeal and slap his hand again. Then he turns to Midge. "The suburbs aren't so bad, they're much quieter than this. All the neighbors have dogs and he likes petting them. But you aren't wrong. I'd rather be here and he'd rather be in a cabin by some lake."
"Good luck convincing Yennefer of that," Ciri adds and Jaskier chuckles as he nods to agree.
“Geralt seems like a dog person,” Midge says. “He’d have a big ugly dog that he thinks is the sweetest thing. He and Yennefer seem surprisingly suited. Both of them are a bit cantankerous.”
Opposites do attract, but ultimately people have to have something in common to be in a relationship. She and Jaskier both love being in the spotlight. Fortunately, their talents are different, so they’re not competing with each other.
Jaskier nods in agreement. "We keep dancing around the subject of a pet. I know he wants one, but we aren't home often, so he's hesitant. The poor thing would be stuck with Yennefer for most of the day." He does sound amused by the idea, and Ciri giggles. "Surprisingly indeed, considering she's all pretty dresses and he's a dirty bear. Cantankerous sounds about right, though. They're fucking old."
"Yennefer has been doing better. She's found a coven."
"Oh yeah, I didn't tell you about that, did I?" Jaskier asks Midge. "The witches that are being dropped from other worlds are gathering. Hopefully, making friends is keeping them in check."
"Maybe we could tell Geralt about the bird watchers," Ciri says as she watches the group with the binoculars.
“You didn’t,” Midge replies. “Did she just look one up in the Yellow Pages?” As more and more people come from other worlds, such a thing might someday happen.
“He’s patient enough for bird watching,” she continues. “He might like it.”
The picture of the big hulking man sitting completely still with binoculars in his hands is a hilarious one.
Midge hopes she isn’t opening a can of worms with this question, but she’s curious. “Do you have abilities too?” She asks Ciri. “Or are you a plain boring human like Jaskier?”
"I don't know what Yellow Pages are, but I'm going to assume you said something funny," Jaskier replies.
Both Ciri and Jaskier nod in agreement at Geralt's patience, also grinning at the idea of the witcher sitting with those nerds.
"Oi! Who are you calling boring?" This time, the offense isn't faked, and he takes advantage of having Midge so close to poke her many times in the ribs.
Ciri laughs before answering. "I can do magic, but I'm still learning. And Geralt has been teaching me how to fight."
Another very offended gasp. "Now you think I need magic to woo people? The nerve! The audacity!"
Jaskier sits up so he can use both hands to tickle Midge, paying attention to what spots make her squirm the most. Ciri moves the pie out of the way before answering. "You have to be born with it. Not everyone can learn."
She squeals again and laughs, throwing her arms around Jaskier and trying to pull him to her in order to stop the ticking. Midge presses her lips to his and the rest of his face.
Once he’s distracted by enough kisses that he stops ticking her, Midge gently pulls away so that she can answer Ciri.
“So, sadly, we’ll never be anything but plain boring humans?” She’s okay with that.
"Oi, that's- hey, stop- that's cheating!" But damn, he does like kisses, and happily takes her mouth in his to kiss her properly. He only stops when Ciri clears her throat.
"I don't know," she answers with a shrug. "Many strange people keep coming from different worlds. Maybe one of them can do something magical to you? Or maybe you can get bitten by a vampire."
"Oh, becoming a vampire would destroy her," Jaskier teases. "Her makeup and dresses wouldn't match her pale skin."
“Oh, that sounds like fun,” Midge replies jokingly.
She turns and gives Jaskier a look. “Are you kidding? I already have pale skin and it looks fantastic. As a matter of fact, stay where you are. You’re blocking the sun for me.”
Both Ciri and Jaskier laugh. "You've never seen a vampire," Ciri says.
"You have normal skin. Not pale like the dead skin." He decides to stay seated and brings Midge's upper body to rest on his lap. He's slightly bent over to pet her head, providing the shadow she wants. "So that's all I am to you? An umbrella?"
"That I do believe," he agrees. Midge could make anything look good, but he still had to tease her about the loss of her current wardrobe. This is followed by another exaggerated gasp. "If you shall have me as your personal whore, the least you could do is pay me! I'm being scammed here!"
Ciri pulls a face as she lets out a heartfelt ugh, stretching the u a little. "I'm going to ask the bird people if they take newbies." She runs down the hill, eager to escape all the dirty talk.
“We scared her off,” Midge says. “Poor girl can’t bear to think of you having sex.” Again, Midge doesn’t really blame her.
She lays her head fully in Jaskier’s lap and looks up at him. “I think you would be my personal whore for free, so long as I kept making you come again and again.”
Jaskier chuckles. "You should see her face when she realizes that Geralt and Yennefer are having a shower at the same time."
He gives her room so she can get herself comfortable and continues to pet her head, softly smiling down at her. She looks so pretty on his lap, and the matching colors of their outfits are a great extra touch. "Mmmh, I don't know, it still sounds like I'm being used here. My hands give me orgasms too, you know."

She’s a little old for a playground. There are some fountains in the park, but that’s not terribly interesting.
