"Not like that! Just one very tasteful braid, resting over his shoulder--" His rant finally calms down and he realizes Midge is kidding. "--that is pretty funny."
Her question makes him shrug. "I guess so." He'll wear them anyway.
On their way to the register, Jaskier picks up a hat, too. Once they've finally paid for everything, they leave with quite busy hands: one carrying their bags, the other with their arms linked. Jaskier wouldn't have it any other way.
"What do your children like anyway?" he asks as they look at the other shops.
“They’re nice shoes,” she continues. “Hopefully the sand and salt water won’t ruin them.”
Shops love to see them coming. They’re probably set for the weekend now. Maybe. Unless Midge sees something in one of the upscale boutiques along the way.
Midge blows air through her lips at that question. “Ethan likes Howdy Doody. Esther…” Midge hates feeling like she knows less about her daughter, but it’s true. “Maybe a baby doll? Kids appreciate anything you buy them.”
"That's not true at all," he says with a snort. "Esther, maybe, she's young enough not to understand much. But Ethan?" He shakes his head. "I hated it when father gifted me what was proper instead what I liked."
Of course, they discuss getting gifts for Geralt and the kids, yet they stop to look at the displays of the stores they like. Look at those cushions, aren't they lovely?
Those store windows are indeed pretty distracting. So many pretty and shiny things!
"Yennefer and I decorated the house we're living in now. Ciri helped a little. Geralt took over the garden and hated us all," he replies with clear amusement. "My suite in the university was decorated too, of course."
Midge cocks her head. “I guess the house fits your style. I would have expected more color, but I guess you had to compromise.” It’s a pretty luxurious house considering that they aren’t wealthy. “Is there anything that you would change or do if you had free rein?”
"Oooh yeah, lots of arguments and compromise. It was a miracle that Geralt didn't kill us all." He thinks about her question for a second. "You already mentioned more color sooo... More art on the walls. Bigger bookshelves. My own studio."
Maybe a sex room? He isn't into dungeon stuff, so he isn't sure if he could pull off one.
At that moment, he discovers a woodcraft store in the corner. They have furniture and tools for woodworking, obviously, but also lots of smaller things: cutting boards, bowls, wine and cake stoppers, keychains, magnets, and all kinds of ornaments. Including animal figurines.
"Look at these, they are cute! Would your kids like them? I can try finding a horse for Geralt."

It’s hard to think about gifts for the kids when she keeps getting distracted by other things in store windows.
“Have you ever thought about decorating a house?” she asks. “The life you had where you came from seemed pretty nomadic.”
