Midge puts on the new bathing suit that she bought, the one that matches his, then looks for matching accessories amongst her purchases and the items in her suitcase, then lays them out on the bed. Satisfied, she looks at herself in the mirror.
At least nobody she knows will be down at the beach to see her without makeup or her hair curled. She brushes her damp hair back with her hand, wondering what it will look like in a braid.

Jaskier dries his body pretty damn quickly and returns to the bedroom while finishing his hair. He meant it when he said that her curves are a big distraction, but he still wants to admire them before she covers them.
Once his swimsuit with the included shirt is on, he hugs Midge from behind in front of the mirror.
"Look at us, all nice and matching." He kisses her cheek. "You look beautiful with your hair down, by the way. I like it a lot. I bet you could pull off lots of different styles." He pulls back to start combing her hair. "Sooo~ Just one braid that falls on your back or shoulder? Because if you have hairpins, I can also do two thinner ones and crown them on your head."
She smiles at his reflection when he wraps his arms around her from behind. Jaskier knows that she’s feeling self-conscious about how she looks, and she appreciates the compliments. He’s not lying.
Midge considers the offered options. “What would that look like?” she asks. “Do you mean you would wrap them around my head?”
He parts her hair in two - nothing exact yet, it's very loose just as an example. He twists each half around his fingers and wraps them around her head.

“Oh,” Midge says, seeing what he means. “Okay, let’s try it. I’ve got some bobby pins in my suitcase.” She gets out the small box of hair pins and puts it on the dresser next to the mirror.
“Most often, the people you see wearing braids these days are kids.” As long as she doesn’t look like a child, Midge is willing to give it a shot.
"Great!" And he means it, he's grinning from ear to ear. Seeing her grab the bobby pins makes him realize something. "Oh, crap, we'll need..."
He searches his suitcase too, only to groan in frustration. Then he tries his satchel and checks his wallet, exclaiming, "Ha! I knew it!" as he pulls out two black hair ties. He puts them down next to the pins on the dresser and takes back the comb.
"Ages for hairstyles." He shakes his head as he starts combing her hair to get rid of any tangles. "I swear humanity can find the most stupid ways to be boring. I noticed men don't wear their hair long here either."
Midge sits down on the bed while Jaskier gathers all the materials, then offers up her head for styling.
“It’s not the style for men here, no,” she replies as he gets to work. “I’m sure you’ve noticed the looks that you get.” Jaskier stands out. Big time. “Should we put your hair in little pig tails?” she asks teasingly.
"Obviously, I get looks because of how handsome and charming I am." He's joking; he knows what she means. "Ironically, I only started wearing my hair like this a few years ago. I needed a makeover. Most of my life I wore it short."
Once her hair is nicely combed, he parts it in half, this time following the hairline to a tee. When he's about to start braiding, she makes her joke and he laughs.
"Well..." Jaskier grabs his wallet again and luckily, he finds a third hair tie. He combs his hair really quickly just to check for tangles before tying it in a pigtail at the base of his head. A few strands still come loose, but it adds to the look. "Like that?" He teases as he sits next to her and starts the first braid, fingers moving quickly - Ciri lets him help her sometimes, so he isn't out of practice.
“I’ve thought about cutting mine short, but I still enjoy curling it,” she says, then smiles when Jaskier pulls his hair back. “That’s a pony tail.” Susie wears her hair like that all the time. “Pig tails are on either side of your head.”
Kind of like what he’s doing now. “You’re fast. You could work at a beauty parlor.”
"I bet you'd pull it off, but agreed, I like your long hair better." An exaggerated gasp. "It's not long enough for a ponytail! This is an insult to all horses!"

Now they know what to do if their careers don't work out, although he doubts Susie would let them.

When Jaskier finishes pinning the braids up, Midge tilts her head so that she can examine her hair on the mirror.
