"It's nothing," he replies as he shakes his head. He doesn't want her to feel bad about his silly thoughts.
He nods at her question. "Yeah, that's why I didn't immediately drag you there, even though I was dying to - can't have lunch covered in sand." Well, they can, and he's done so in the past. But he'd rather avoid it if he can. He wants to go to the beach and stay there for a while without thinking about the time. "Oooh, shopping! Yes, Lady Miriam, let us check the local fashion."
It doesn’t seem like nothing. Midge furrows her brow in concern at his comment, but decides to let it go for now. Maybe later when they’re not out and about, she’ll ask him what’s bothering him. Perhaps it’s simply the usual fear of being in a committed relationship and all of the things that entails.
Shopping is distracting. The two of them walk back towards the hotel, then around the pool to where the boardwalk begins. “We can probably find a place to eat lunch over here as well. There’s a grill at the far end.”
Now there are even more people by the pool! It seems people truly come here to lounge. Jaskier has lounged at the beach with a book or homework, but that's because the beach was right outside Oxenfurt. Just like city people go to a park to read. It's strange for him that people travel all the way here to ignore the attractions.
"That sounds like a plan," he agrees, although he'll probably want to look for other restaurant options. Too hot to eat by a grill.
The boardwalk is beautiful, and Jaskier pulls Midge so they walk close and parallel to the stores to peek into all the display windows. "There's a mirror in there." He points at a clothing shop that sells all kinds of breezy summer clothes. "Want to take care of your hair? I have a comb."
Womp sorry for disappearing for an hour, was sorting caps
They travel to relax, Jaskier. Midge can’t wait to lounge by the pool or on the beach with some magazines or a book.
She squeezes his hand, loving that she gets to show him affection in public. “Probably a good idea.”
When she gets in front of the mirror, she makes a face. “Jeez, I look like I forgot to set the curlers before sitting under the hair dryer.” She takes the comb from him and attempts to at least tame her hair into some waves.
