“No, no, it’s fine,” Midge says with a wave of her hand. “I didn’t realize that she was handling the reservations personally, but I don’t care if she knows.” Everyone is going to find out soon enough.
While Jaskier gets his things, Midge checks her outfit and adds a pair of sunglasses to it. Then, she reaches for his hand. “Ready?”
"I believe she has a wedding... organizer?" He forgot the word; he means wedding planner. "But at the end of the day, she has the final word on everything." The planner must do what Leah tells her to do, and that works in Jaskier's favor.
They take the elevator back to the lobby and ask for directions to the venue. Staff is already working to put decorations up, but only the basics. Jaskier shows an employee the pass Leah gave him and they're allowed to enter the room to check the place out.
It's a nice room, but Jaskier only has eyes for the stage.
"Look at the size!" he exclaims as he climbs on the stage. After a quick look around, he sings a very high note and laughs. "Perfect acoustics, too!"
Of course it's a wonderful venue. As if Leah would have anything less. Jaskier seems incredibly excited by the set up though, and for that, Midge is happy. She looks around, wondering if she'll ever have another wedding.
Probably not one like this.
"When does the rest of the band get here?" she asks.
Jaskier keeps walking around the stage to memorize the size, check how much space he has to move, and sing more random notes to test the acoustics from every angle. The staff working on the decorations finds him amusing, and a few girls definitely are giving him interested looks.
He only stops moving when Midge speaks.
"Early on Sunday to do a sound check before the wedding," he explains while crouching next to the edge and offering his hand to Midge as a way to invite her to join him. "So I'm afraid the bed will be lonely for a few hours." Wink~
She takes his hand and joins him onstage. "How dare you!" she says with a dramatic gasp. "Leaving a beautiful woman alone in a cold bed. So cruel."
There's no microphone onstage, but Midge can admit that it's a good set up now that she's up here. "Think I should tell some jokes at the wedding?" she asks. If she ends up getting onstage at this wedding, the things that come out of her mouth might not be very friendly.
He laughs. "Very cruel of me, yes. I promise to make it up to you by being the most handsome date in the ceremony."
Jaskier laments that he won't be able to dance with her much during the party, since he'll be the entertainment. So he grabs her by the waist and rocks her on the stage while humming a tune - a tune that is interrupted by her question. He blinks in surprise for a few seconds before answering.
"I mean..." Oh dear, how to tackle this? "I'd love seeing you scandalize everyone here. But can you handle the reaction when it comes from your extended family?"
Midge sighs dramatically. "I guess that'll have to do," she replies. A smile returns to her face when Jaskier pulls her in to dance with her. She still plans to steal him during some of the intermissions for kisses or dances or maybe even something more intimate.
"Probably not," she replies honestly. "You know, I ended up doing a set of sorts at my own wedding, but that was different. With this one..." This time Midge's sigh is genuine. "I'd probably just end up coming off as rude."
"I like it when you're rude," he teases before kissing her cheek. "Whatever you decide, you'll have my support. If you want to perform, I'll bring you to the stage. If you don't, I get it. As much fun as a scandal would be, I understand not wanting to get your family on your bad side."
At that moment, an employee clears his throat. Jaskier may have a pass, but there's nothing for him to do yet, so they're overstaying their welcome. He nods at the man to confirm he got the indirect message and jumps off the stage before helping Midge down by grabbing her by her petite waist. It's amusing how she makes him feel like a big, strong man, which he isn't.
On their way out, Jaskier gives every employee his card and Geralt's.
"You and I will probably cause enough of a scandal," Midge says with a smile and a light kiss.
Jaskier might not be a big strong man, but he's able to pick her up and his muscles are more than enough for her. She laughs as he gives his card to everyone in the building, then takes his hand as they leave.
"And I look forward to it," he replies with a mischievous grin. He's also pretty nervous, since he doesn't want to turn the fun into actual arguments and judgment. But just a nice scandal, he could deal with.
"What do you mean the pool?" he asks with clear confusion as he follows her. She knows this place; she shall be the guide. "I thought pools existed to swim in the city! The sea is right there!"
To be clear, her nerves have nothing to do with Jaskier himself. Midge loves everything about who he is. She’s just worried about rejection, something that he’s not unfamiliar with.
“It’s for when you don’t feel like dragging everything down to the beach, or dealing with the sand, or when you come up from the beach and want to wash the sand off.”
They find the pool area filled with lounge chairs and umbrellas. Some people are floating in the water while others are sunbathing at poolside. A waiter walks around with a tray of drinks.
“Oh, did I mention that they will bring you alcohol?”
For a few seconds, Jaskier can do nothing but stare. It's not because of the swimsuits -although those still blow his mind- it's just the entire concept.
"...Geralt isn't going to believe this," he finally says. When Midge mentions the alcohol, he pays attention to the trays. Well, damn. "Alright, you win one point."
The lack of sand is pretty fucking good, too, but he doesn't want to admit it. The beach is too beloved to him, he doesn't want it to lose. When a waiter passes by, Jaskier stops him.
"Can I have one of those, please?" He points at a fruity drink on the tray. "And a martini for the lady. Thank you." There's no such thing as too early to drink, according to Jaskier. "Fine, we can use the pool when we come up from the beach. Is there something lighter we can do until lunch?"
He then notices a brochure on a table left by another guest and quickly steals it for himself. "Oooh, there are museums! And lighthouses! That could be nice at night." A little gasp. "Horses! Midge, we should go riding! I haven't ridden on sooooo long." He whispers in her ear: "Not counting you, of course."
Midge grins and sits down in one of the lounge chairs. "Not bad, right?" See, Jaskier? Midge definitely plans on spending some time here.
She sips on her drink while Jaskier looks through the brochure. His little naughty comment helps take away some of the mild dread at the activity that he's suggesting. "Horses?" she asks. "Uh... I'm sure that I haven't ridden in even longer than you."
Jaskier sits on the edge of her chair, not wanting to get too comfortable if they're going to leave soon. He makes sure to tip the waiter and sneak his card as well. The fruity drink is very refreshing, perfect for the summer heat.
Her reaction to his idea makes him chuckle. "Midge - are you afraid of the horses?"

Where in New York City would she ride a horse?
